Description
Welcome to the OpenOffice.org Conference
August 31st - September 3rd, 2010 The 2010 OpenOffice.org Conference will take place from August 31st to September 3rd in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. One session of this year's OpenOffice.org Conference will be held at the Hungarian Parliament in Budapest, at September 1st. Due to the mandatory security checks before entering the Parliament, it is required to register yourself the latest by August 27th Anyone who wants to attend this session has to register, and no one will be automatically registered -- neither speakers, nor organizers, nor sponsors, so please do register yourself at the OOoCon website. Granting exceptions for attendees is outside our powers, so chances are you will not be allowed to enter the Parliament if you forgot to register. For all other sessions, a later registration is sufficient, though the earlier your register, the better it is. In addition, we have been told the following restrictions: * Participants need to be on the spot 30 minutes before the start. * Passport or ID card (EU citizens) must be shown at the gate. * Sharp, metal objects will be expropriated before entering the building. We don't have information about laptops yet, but suggest that people drop off their laptops at the university entrance, Nador 11, before going to the Parliament. Come and join us for OOoCon in our 10th anniversary year! The International OpenOffice.org Conference is the focal event of the year for the world-wide open-source community. While the purpose of the Conference is to generate user interest and raise the public profile of OpenOffice software, it also serves as a platform for developers and small and larger-scale businesses. In addition, the annual gathering functions as an important forum for announcements related to new products and solutions, where recent developments and achievements are shared and discussed. Following in the footsteps of Germany, Spain, France, China and Italy, the Hungarian Chapter of Open Document Format Alliance has been offered the privilege of organizing this year's event in Hungary. The Conference will address a range of topics crucial to the success of the OpenOffice.org project such as development, interoperability, migration, FLOSS education and community. Plenary speakers will include some of the world’s leading OpenOffice developers and experts. For those who are unable to attend the Conference in person we offer the possibility of virtual participation via this website. If you are interested in learning more about the Conference agenda and its affiliated events, please bookmark the website as it will be regularly updated. Gabriella Ivacs President, ODFA Hungary |
